HMC Health Management Consulting · Santo Domingo · 2026 · 3 months

A company’s entirepublic face.

Not a website: everything the consultancy shows. What it looks like, what it says, where it lives and who holds the keys. A logo and its basic manual were what existed; the rest — the language, the system, the page and what holds it up — had to be decided, designed and built.

What you could see from far off

HMC’s argument is that information should travel from a frontline clinic to a national decision without getting lost. A consultancy that sells that cannot arrive with something it could not maintain itself.

The object had to prove the message; otherwise the message was only a claim.

What there wasn’t

No team, and one hard condition: the client had to be able to write, publish and own all of this without me, permanently.

That ruled out every shortcut that ends with the agency holding the keys.

Before there was a page

The first work was not design: it was deciding what the object was. Who it speaks to — ministries, national laboratories, donors, multilateral bodies — what it has to prove to each of them, and therefore what has to exist inside it. An unfinished brief and a fuzzy idea cannot be executed: they either become a structure or there is nothing to build.

That is where the sections came from, their order, and what each one has to achieve.

From a logo to a language

A logo manual gives you five colours and two typeface names. It does not give you scales, semantic tokens, hierarchy, spacing, components or a voice. All of that was built, and delivered as a system rather than as screens, so the next piece would not depend on me.

Including the call to keep the logo’s typeface out of everything that is not the logo.

What was actually built

One page you ride through, in two languages, with a CMS the client writes in. And underneath, the part nobody sees: domain, corporate mail, repository and every account in their name from the first day, the deployment, and the structured data that lets a machine answer about the company without guessing.

Delivery is not a zip file: it is ceasing to be necessary.

What kept changing

The scope grew four times in three months, and every time it grew because the client was better understood, not because more was sold: the CMS on night one, the infrastructure in their name, the team with names and faces, and a place to keep publishing. Then it did the opposite: the twelve sections are becoming ten.

Nothing a machine reads gets cut in the condensing.

The wheel borndestroyedbecamesurvived
  1. born — a multi-page structure with a CMS, so the client could write without me.
  2. destroyed — that structure, on the first day: the navigation should scroll, not send people away. And in September, the first version of the capabilities and initiatives sections, for being walls of text.
  3. became — one page you ride through, in two languages, edited by the client, with its team named, a place to keep publishing, and a design system to make the next thing without me.
  4. survived — the rule of the handover: domain, mail and accounts in their name from the start.

Conceptualisation, design, creation and evolution in three months. The only thing that already existed when it started was a logo.

What can be measured from here

Not in the search index yet: it is two weeks old, and built to be found when it is. Measured again in a month.
